Digital Display

Digital Signage

A signage interface designed to communicate essential information clearly through motion, layout, and real-time content zones.

Overview

Project Overview

The Goal

The Digital Signage project focuses on designing a real-time information display system inspired by broadcast-style layouts such as news channels. The goal was to create a visually structured and dynamic interface that communicates essential campus information efficiently.

The system is designed for large public displays, presenting real-time data such as time, date, weather updates, announcements, news, and promotional content in a clear and engaging format.

Project Goal

The objective was to design and develop a signage system that:

  • Delivers real-time information clearly.
  • Uses motion to guide attention.
  • Maintains readability from a distance.
  • Creates a structured, broadcast-inspired layout.

The design emphasizes clarity, hierarchy, and continuous information flow.

System Concept

The signage layout is divided into multiple content zones, each serving a specific purpose:

  • Logo & Time Panel – Displays branding with live time and date
  • Weather Panel – Shows current weather conditions
  • Motion Graphics Panel – Rotating advertisements and announcements
  • News Panel – Dynamic news updates using a carousel system
  • Video Panel – Embedded media content
  • Ticker Tape – Continuous scrolling updates at the bottom

This modular structure ensures that information is organized and easy to scan at a glance.

Challenges

  • Managing multiple content zones simultaneously.
  • Ensuring smooth performance with animations
  • Maintaining readability across different screen sizes
  • Synchronizing dynamic data with UI updates

Balancing motion and clarity was a key challenge during development.

What I Learned

  • Designing for large-scale displays requires strong hierarchy
  • Motion should enhance, not distract from content
  • Real-time systems need structured data handling
  • Grid systems are essential for complex layouts

This project improved my ability to combine design, motion, and development into a single system.

Process

The project followed a structured workflow:

  • Layout planning and content zoning
  • Static design composition (COMP)
  • Front-end development of layout
  • Integration of dynamic data
  • Animation and motion refinement
  • Testing across screen resolutions

Final Deliverables

Outcome

The final result is a fully functional digital signage system that delivers structured, real-time information through a clean and dynamic interface.

It successfully combines:

  • Information clarity
  • Motion design
  • Real-time data integration

The system enhances communication in public environments by making information accessible, engaging, and easy to understand.
